Presence

This sermon begins in the 10 days following Jesus' ascension - disciples are alone, questioning, and confused. How will they live without the continual, physical presence of Jesus. The sermon explores the giving of the Holy Spirit to the disciples and how that equipped them to serve Christ. The text for the sermon is Acts 2:1-13.

Promise

This sermon comes from 1 Corinthians 15 and Paul's central discussion of the importance of Jesus' resurrection. Paul virtually calls the Resurrection the keystone of the church. Without the resurrection, disciples of Jesus are pitiable.  The sermon focuses on Cornelius, Roman convert who Paul connects to the resurrection.

Trust

This sermon is based on the life of Abraham and the incredible trust he had in God and God's promises to him. The central premise of the sermon is that faith is more than belief, but rather trust that leads to deep commitment. The text for the sermon is Genesis 12.

Priesthood

This sermon is about the decision of Israel to reject God's leadership.  Instead of God, the people when to Samuel and said, "We want a king like all the nations around us."  This sermon is about how such a humanistic, pragmatic approach to faith isolates us from his blessing.

Return

Exodus 19:1-8 is the text for this sermon.  The sermon has the Exodus as its core event and discusses how, after the Fall, mankind has constantly been moving away from God. Nevertheless, God has persevered in seeking to return mankind to full relationship with him.

Alienation

This sermon takes a look at Israel in the wilderness and how their idolatry caused them to become alienated from God who saved them from Egypt.

Disappointment

This sermon comes from Genesis 6:1-8 and is about the disappointment that God experienced because of the Fall and the resulting corruption of the world he created.  This sermon also looks at how God is responsive to humanity, even changing his mind.

The Fall

This sermon begins a series called "Nine Great Biblical Events" which will continue through the month of August.  The goal of the series is to look at major events in the Bible which have affected us today.  "The Fall" is our first of the series, and it examines the results of Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden.  The text for the sermon is Genesis 3:1-24.

The Bible Is A Dangerous Book, Part 3

This sermon is the last of a three-part series on the Bible and how to approach and understand it in a healthy way.  This sermon looks at the process of understanding scripture by describing how it was put together in its final form which we have today.  The sermon also looks at how Christians can be guilty of making the Bible irrelevant by using poor methods of reading and studying it.  The text for the sermon comes for 2 Peter 3:14-16.

The Bible Is A Dangerous Book, Part 2

This sermon is the second in the three part series, "The Bible Is a Dangerous Book."  This sermon takes its text from Nehemiah and the time at which Ezra read the Book of the Law to the returned Israelites.  Nehemiah talks about how overcome the listeners were as they heard this text for the first time.  The sermon explores
