A little widow who deposits her only two coins into the collection box in Temple and a woman who annoints Jesus with an extrememly expensive ointment are the center of this week's sermon.  Called "You are what you love," this sermon takes a look at the order we give the pieces of our lives - often putting Jesus way down the list.

In this week's text, Mark tells the story of Jesus' rebuke of Peter after Peter's confession that Jesus was Messiah.  The sermon explores why Jesus might have told Peter to keep silent in spite of the fact that Peter said a good thing, "You are the Messiah."

This sermon is based on Jesus' parable about the sower and the seeds.  The parable is found in both Matthew and Mark, although the text is for this sermon is from Mark 4:1-12.  It takes a look at the role of wastefulness, external threats, and patience in the planting and care of seeds.

New Wine, Old Wine

Sunday's sermon came from a discussion that Jesus had about fasting, and specifically why he and his disciples did not fast.  In his answer, Jesus launched a discussion of the role of tradition and why it is sometimes inappropriate to keep a tradition.
