Courage

This is the third in the Cardinal Virtues series.  Jim's sermon begins this sermon with a reminder of the courage of the 40 passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 who prevented the terrorists from crashing into either the White House or the Capital.  

Temperance

This sermon is the second in the 4 Cardinal Virtues series.  Jim Grasley explores the contours of Temperance, the Biblical virtue of self-control.  

This is what the Lord wants.

This the first of four Cardinal Virtues.  Taken from Micah 6:6-8, the sermon shows how much Justice shows up in descriptions of what God expects from God's people. 

How 'bout them Cardinals?

This is a "dialogical" sermon because it features a conversation between Jim and Bruce about the Four Cardinal Virtues.  The purpose of the sermon was to introduce the coming series and explore why these four virtues are important to know about.  The text for the sermon is from 2 Peter 1:5-8.

Jim's sermon comes from Philemon and focuses on the way in which Paul asked Philemon to receive back his slave, Onesimus, as a brother in Christ.  The whole book of Philemon only contains twenty-five verses but is profound in its love, respect, and kindness.  Check it out.

A Done Deal

The modern-day concept of a family trust is a good way to think of Hebrews 13:1-6.  God has given God's people an inheritance that we are already beginning to receive.  In the words of the sermon, it is a "done deal."

Unshakable

This sermon comes from Hebrews 12:18-23 which describes the huge contrast between Mount Sinai and Mount Zion.  The text describes the unshakable nature of the kingdom that God has prepared for us.

Where Are You Going?

Jim Grasley uses Genesis 16:7-9,13-14 as his text for this sermon about the plight of Hagar, servant girl to Sarai, wife of Abraham.  This is a challenging and very contemporary subject.

I want my share.

This concerns an encounter that Jesus had with a man wanting Jesus to legislate in a family spat about the division of the inheritance.  Jesus was not drawn into that debate, but rather told him the story of a rich farmer trying what to do with his excess grain wealth.  Found in Luke 12:13-21, the sermon is about the role that wealth plays in our lives.

What are the Powers?

This is the second sermon from Colossians.  Last week we looked at how the Empire seeks to capture our imagination, causing us to be poor representatives of Jesus and the Cross.  In this week's sermon from Colossians 2:6-19 we will look at how the Empire seeks to remove our power and replace it with the power of the Empire.
