Malachi was written to Judah, post-Babylon.  It was written to rebuke the nation for their failure to give God what was God's due.  This sermon concludes with the question of when we, too, can be guilty of robbing God.

This sermon comes from Matthew 26:17-30 which is the account of the Passover meal that Jesus ate with his disciples prior to his death.  That Jesus chose Passover rather than the Day of Atonement, for example, is an indication of how Jesus envisioned his mission and the meaning of his death.  The sermon explores this idea.

This sermon comes from Acts 5:26-32.  It looks at the early persecution of people such as Peter and John and how their boldness gave them determination to proclaim their faith in Christ as risen from the grave.  The sermon asks us to think about what a prayer for boldness today would look like and how it might change us.

No Chirpy Ending

Posted in , Mark, Easter by LifeSpringChurch on April 5th, 2015

This Easter sermon comes from the short ending of Mark 16 (verses 1-8) and it takes a look at the fear of the disciples and how the cross often leads through fear and difficulty.  The ending of Mark is so abrupt there is a tendency to want to "fix" it, and this may be the explanation for the longer ending of Mark which was added by some later scribe who thought that the ending needed to be rescued.
