Just Crispus and Gaius

Posted in Christ by LifeSpringChurch on January 27th, 2020

Paul told the Corinthian church that he had baptized none of them except Crispus and Gaius and was thankful for that because of the Corinthian church's tendency to divide into factions based on who baptized them.

The core of the text is Paul's assertion that such factionalism empties the Cross of Christ of its power.  That is the focus of today's sermon.

Putting Herod Back Into Christmas

The text for this sermon comes from Matthew 2:13-23.  It concerns the themes seen in the Old Testament (type) and the way they are reinterpreted in the New Testament (anti-type).  For example, manna which sustained Israel in the wilderness (type) and Jesus the bread of life in the New Testament (anti-type).  The sermon invited listeners to 1) have a clear vision of what God is doing today, 2) not settle for a counterfeit narrative such as what our government gives us, and 3) listening to God rather than to false voices.
