Inadequate God
Monday Sep 17, 2018
Monday Sep 17, 2018
This sermon comes from Romans 8:38-39 which, in Good News fashion, speaks about the love of God which is more powerful than the forces of Hell or any other evil force. Compare this to those views of God and his love which are inaequate, such as the vengeful God or the meek and mild God, and therefore not good news to those to whom we speak of God. The sermon challenges us to think of God as the one who sent his son, defeated sin and death, and is now finishing his work of redemption.

Monday Jul 16, 2018
Monday Jul 16, 2018
This sermon comes from Exodus 5:1-6:1 and it is about the conflict between Pharaoh (Thutmose III) and the people of Israel who were being held captive in Egypt. The sermon contrasts the demands of Pharaoh against the laws given by God to Israel in the Ten Commandments. The premise of the sermon is that the laws that God gives us to govern our lives as his people are far lighter and benevolent toward us than the onerous commands of Pharaoh.

This sermon finishes a short series on the book of Acts. Acts 16:11-40 is the text, and the subject is the way that Paul, Silas, and other church leaders were transformed by the mission that God had given to the church to move westward. The story of courage, passion, and intention is inspiring to modern-day disciples of Jesus.
